Grand Port District-2015 – in progress

3,3Mw Landfill Gas-Energy Facility

This Project for generating electricity from Landfill Waste gasses has been developed by Sotravic as a private enterprise initiative since taking over the operation of the Mare Chicose Landfill Site in 2006. Authorisation as an Independent Power Producer was concluded in 2009 and the Power Generating Plant came on stream in 2011 with delivery of up to 3,3 Mw power to the CEB. On site, the Project has required the procurement and installation of 3 generators of 1,1 Mw each, electrical switchgear and transmission systems to the CEB grid and upgrade of gas collection systems, filters and pumps to maximise the volume and quality of gas extracted.
